Penny Goldwater
February 6, 1949 - April 7, 2025
Penny Goldwater 76, of Sun City Oro Valley, AZ, died peacefully on April 7, 2025. Penny was born on February 6, 1949 in Buffalo New York, the daughter of Isarel and Evelyn Goldwater (nee Peckoff). She grew up in the suburb of Kenmore and would walk to school with Wolf Blitzer. Penny graduated from Kenmore West High School and Southern Connecticut State College in New Haven with a degree in Special Education. While she was going to college, she met her lifelong friend MaryJane when she was offered a job to babysit Mary Jane's children. She also baby sat for Joe Liberman who later became a U.S. Senator.
Penny eventually moved to Houston, furthered her education and worked in the Aldean school district and then as a diagnostician for the Deaf co-op program in Houston. Penny was fluent in American Sign language.
When Penny semi-retired from teaching, being tired of hot muggy weather of Houston, she moved to Arizona for the dry heat. She continued her diagnostic testing via regular trips to the Huston area until fully retiring. Penny enjoyed keeping busy and used her entrepreneurial skills to start a successful airport transportation service to and from the Tucson airport.
Penny enjoyed living in Sun City Oro Valley, she made many friends and was a valued member of the community. She built lasting relationships both inside and outside the community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Penny volunteered during tax time for AARP, greeting individuals as they arrived. She was known to bring her fellow co-workers' goodies. She was a good scrabble player and would play weekly with neighbors and friends. Penny loved dogs, she had several over the years and was seen every day walking her dog or dogs. Always the teacher she taught her dog Mickey how to recognize sign language. He was her protector and never left her side. She kept herself busy traveling to Hawaii, cruising and visiting her lifelong friend MaryJane in Portugal. She especially enjoyed walking in the pool during the summer and going out to lunch or dinner with friends.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents and her bother Peter D. Goldwater. She is survived by her cousin Wende Tragash of Buffalo New York, Her sister-in-law Pat Goldwater of Sarasota Florida and her nephew Elliot Goldwater, his wife Christina and their 3 children Austin, Dylan, and Bee.
And forever a Buffalo Bills Fan! A faithful and loyal friend who will be missed by all whose life she touched.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
